In Uganda, vocational training is increasingly recognized as a crucial pathway to financial stability, job creation, and economic growth. Several types of tradespeople have become particularly sought-after in the country. There are currently lucrative jobs in Uganda for applicants with the following in-demand trade skills:

• Welding. Welding skills are in high demand due to the growing construction industry and the need for infrastructure development. Skilled welders are essential for building and maintaining structures, making this a worthwhile career path.
• Hairdressing. The beauty industry in Uganda is booming, with hairdressing being a popular and profitable trade. With the right skills, hairdressers can find employment in established salons or set up their own businesses.
• Mechanics. As vehicle ownership increases, so does the need for skilled mechanics. Those trained in automotive repair can find steady work in garages or start their own repair shops.
• Tailoring. Tailoring remains a vital trade in Uganda, with demand for custom-made clothing continuing to rise. Skilled tailors can capitalize on the fashion industry by creating unique garments for local and international markets.
• Construction. The construction sector is one of Uganda’s fastest-growing industries, creating numerous opportunities for those skilled in masonry, carpentry, and related trades. Construction workers are essential for both urban and rural development.

Support Vocational Training for Ugandan Students With Simone’s Kids

Simone’s Kids in Nakaseke, Uganda, provides high-quality primary and secondary education and meets basic needs for children in order to help them break the cycle of poverty. Besides academic learning, our schools offer access to healthy foods, clean water, safety measures, after-school sports and other activities, and an on-site medical clinic. 

Our God’s Hope School also offers valuable vocational training in tailoring, hairdressing, welding, construction, mechanics, and electrical work. These programs play a crucial role in providing students with practical skills that are essential for the workforce, reducing unemployment and fostering self-sufficiency. 

We’re aiming to raise $60,000 for our vocational program, and hosting an online auction starting September 15th.
